Eject, eject, eject

Erin ~ "Lady Of The Lake"

Cool morning.

I was cleaning up the studio and came across many boxes of VCR tapes that once was my collection of movies we would watch.  Even though many of them have been replaced with DVD versions I was excited to see that there were quite a few we had not found, or had not replaced.  Old favorite that have been forgotten about until I started digging through them.
So, I plugged an old VCR machine into the TV monitor that is on a bench in the studio and began watching.  The last few day have rejuvenated my sole.
Except for the pain in the ass rewinding part I am happy as a clam.  The movies do not have to be crystal clear and sharp as a tack.  The sound doesn't have to be quadraphonic.  Most of the time I am not even looking at the monitor, just listening because I know what is on the screen anyway.
There is joy in simple things.  I don't need a two thousand dollar TV and a two thousand dollar sound system to play a 1969 movie.  I don't need that expensive equipment to play a 2011 movie.
DVDs are nice, I admit.  But I have zero interest in spending thousands so I can watch in high definition.  First off, if you didn't tell me you had a HD TV I probably would never even know when I was watching a movie on it.  And I have.  Maybe I just don't get excited about being able to read the printing on a postage stamp of a letter sitting on the desk in some movie.  There really is no point.
But the one who dies with the most toys wins, as they say.  I don't need to win so I will spend my money on important things.
But for now The Big Chill is waiting for me to rewind it (because who ever watched it last didn't) and I will have my entertainment for this evening.

Somewhere I have a copy of The Wind and The Lion. IF you don't have a copy you should find one.
